It is designed to be a self-contained, comprehensive and complete resource: everything a teacher/department need to teach the sociology of families section of the course.

This bundle contains 20 GCSE Sociology assessments in the form of practice exam sections. It is designed for the latest AQA specification.
Each of the 20 exam sections is half a full exam and takes 50 minutes for students to complete. Each of the 20 exam sections contain a standard set of questions including two 12-mark rubrics: a model answer for one of them is included for each assessment. Each of the 20 exam sections is accompanied by a mark-scheme.
In short, in this bundle you get 20 exam sections, 20 mark-schemes, and 20 model 12-mark answers.
This bundle should take care of most (if not all) of your GCSE Sociology assessment needs: students should ideally complete these 20 assessments over the 2-year course; data-collection of results allows for easy progress tracking. You may prefer to use them in the run-up to formal public exams: they are ideal for this also!
There are five assessments for each of the four main topics: Crime & Deviance, Education, Family & Social Stratification.

Discussions follow one of four formats, each asking students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position.

This download contains an editable 50+ slide PowerPoint featuring debates for GCSE Religious Studies students. It also contains a ‘randomiser’ slide so that debate topics can be selected randomly.
This tool focuses on Christian teachings and does not refer to a specific comparative religion (making it suitable for all GCSE RS teachers). I based the debate topics on commonalities between AQA, OCR and Eduqas specifications: it should be useful regardless of the specification you are using.
Debates take an ‘agree or disagree’ format: students are asked to move from one side of the room to the other depending on their response to the statements that appear.
This format allows teachers to foster debates and discussions between students, it can be helpful to ask students to justify their reasons and use sensible arguments. Questions you might ask include:
“What is wrong with the other position in your view?”,
“Why did you choose to stand where you’re standing?”,
“Why do you think people disagree so much about this question?”
It is best to encourage students to pick a side rather than float in the middle: but it can also be fun to allow students to change side as the debate progresses, so that students can try to persuade one another to move.
This is a great resource to use at the end of lessons if you have a few minutes left, it can be used as an entire lesson or revision session. It’s a fun way to introduce a course or to use as an ice-breaker with new classes, and can also be used by tutor groups as a whole-school initiative.

This collection of 17 lessons is for GCSE Religious Studies teachers who are teaching Christianity & Islam. It is for Theme E of the AQA Religious Studies specification: Religion, Crime & Punishment.

This download was created for Religious Studies teachers teaching about Buddhism at GCSE Level. It may also useful for teachers at KS3 level who are covering Buddhism.
The learning mats contain detailed information about:

The second of the three learning mats includes a complete PLC (designed for the OCR B specification, but easily customisable for alternative specifications).
Ideally there mats are laminated and placed on the desks of students. They can be used for:

-Differentiation tools for assessments
-Prompts for exam practice.
-Prompts for discussions and debates

This is the first in a series of lessons on Hinduism for GCSE level students for the 'Beliefs, Teachings & Practices' section of the course [section A].
It is designed around the OCR specification and is therefore suitable for teachers using the AQA specification (which is a less detailed equivalent to the OCR spec) and highly relevant to GCSE Religious Studies teachers regardless of the specification used.
The Download (comprising 4 files, within one zip file) includes:
-A PPT Containing a Full Lesson
-A complete lesson plan covering: objectives, key-words, differentiation, and lesson timeline
-A double-sided A3 worksheet
-A 'Knowledge Hunt' file for the main activity.
-A Homework Task
The topic of the lesson focusses on the following part of the specification: "Atman & Eternal Self"
• Atman as the eternal self, the part that is liberated from Samsara
• Atman as identical with Brahman
• Atman as distinct from Brahman
• Common and divergent understandings of the atman and liberation (moksha) by different Hindu groups
• Common and divergent understandings of the relationship/connection between atman and Brahman by different Hindu groups
• Common and divergent understandings to the approaches of different yogas by different Hindu groups
• Different interpretations and emphases given to sources of wisdom and authority by different Hindu groups
